1. Repeat after me, "Thou shall not sleep with thy makeup."

Let's start by talking about the biggest no-no you do not want to get into the habit of doing. Now, sometime there's that rare occasion where you just couldn't make it, and that's ok. But if you consistently sleep with your makeup on, you send an open invitation to skin problems and trouble. Especially if your not changing your pillow case after a long night of sleeping with your make up.

Keeping makeup on while sleeping can be extremely harmful to our pores. A lot of makeup products contain silicone-like ingredients that obstruct the pores, and they also have dyes and artificial perfumes that can cause skin damage by clogging the pores with oil and dirt. This can create a breeding ground for bacterial infections and result in acne breakouts on the skin. So don't skin wasing your face thoroughly before going to bed.

Looking to keep a youthful appearance? well, leaving your makeup on can be really damaging to your skin. It sucks the moisture right out, leaving your skin super dry and prone to wrinkles and fine lines. And it's not just the makeup - pollution and free radicals in the environment can make the problem even worse by damaging your skin cells and reducing collagen production. So make sure to take your makeup off before bed and give your skin the chance to breathe and rejuvenate!

Did you know that sleeping with eye makeup on can make your eyes look super dark and deep-set? Not only that, but the chemicals in the makeup can clog your lash follicles and cause inflammation or even painful conditions like hordeolum. Yikes! And on top of all that, you run the risk of getting eye infections that could lead to conjunctivitis. Plus, if you're using mascara, it can dry out your lashes and make them brittle. So do yourself a favor and make sure to remove all that makeup before hitting the hay! Consider using an oil base cleanser that binds with dirt and effortlessly breaks down stubborn makeup, like waterproof mascara and eyeliner, without clogging your pores or a micellar water for our more skin sensitive beauties.

2. Hand cream is a must!

Did you know that younger-looking hands can multiply your attractiveness? A super easy habit to pick up on. All you need is a good moisturizer, preferably thick creme, nothing greasy. You don't have to use gloves, but if you like to be extra- go for it! All you need is an excellent creme to keep by your bedside. So remember, when you slide into bed at night, massage a small amount thoroughly through your hands. Remember to wash your hands before applying and pat them dry with a soft towel.

If your looking to start exploring which creme is right for you alway consider the following; firstly, the simpler ingredients the better, secondly, research the brand/supplier your purchasing from - thanks to EU legislation and the daily work of dedicated experts, Europeans enjoy the highest level of consumer safety when buying and using cosmetics, so consider looking for brands who carry the same standards. And lastly, listen to your body, it will always know better than anyone outside of you.

I personally love the shea butter from L'Occitane. This creamy balm with 20 percent shea butter, honey, almond extracts and coconut oil are blended to create this extremely effective formula. The rich texture leaves hands soft and smooth, can be applied as often as needed. The company is a 100% fair-trade ferried who purchase from Women-run cooperatives. Since 1976, they have brought the beauty of the Southern France to self-care, while giving back to the land that inspired them. Supporting local farmers, respecting biodiversity and reducing waste, while delighting our senses with highly-effective beauty, is in their roots.

If you've search and nothing has given you the inspired action then consider Natural Oils and butter like coconut oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, and Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil as great alternative to commercial products.

3. Don't Skip the toner

Toner is to your face what water is to your body. Toner helps restore the natural pH levels of your skin. It also strengthens your skin against pesky bacteria and other yucky microorganisms. Plus, it gives your skin a deep clean, removing all that dirt and impurities.

Simply find the toner of your liking, with a cotton pad, simply apply a little toner, and gently rub on your face and neck in outwrad motions. Never neglect the neck; aside from our hands and chest, our neck is the last thing that can keep you looking youthful. The following day, you will become even more glowing and rested.

Now there are so many types of toners out in the market, how do you know what you can trust? Well we believe that the purest and simple ingredients is always best when searching for the right fit product for you. We have found that toners like Mario Badescu witch hazel & Rose water to be simple and trust worthy.

Quick Tip for my self makers out there: Witch hazel, rosewater, green tea, and apple cider vinegar are good ingredients you can opt for instead of commercial toner.

4. Don't Forget the Eye Cream

There is so much elegance when looking rested. Your eyes have skin that is thinner, more delicate, and is more prone to dehydration, puffiness, fine lines, and wrinkles than other face areas. These ingredients can be found in various combinations of different eye creams. They can provide multiple benefits for the delicate skin around the eyes. So when shopping, make sure to look out for these key ingredients.

  1. Retinol, another form of Vitamin A, that helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles to improve skin texture and tone.
  2. Peptides are amino acids that help stimulate collagen production. Minimizing the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles.
  3. Hyaluronic Acid: Help to plump and hydrate the skin, with this molecule, which would reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  4. Help brighten the skin, reduce inflammation, and stimulate collagen production with Vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant.
  5. The caffeine ingredient can help to reduce puffiness and dark circles under the eyes.
  6. Vitamin B3, also known as Niacinamide, can help to reduce inflammation, improve skin texture and tone, and appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  7. Another antioxidant, Vitamin E, can aid in shielding the skin from environmental harm and enhancing its texture

5. Tie You Hair

Waking up with tangles and knots? Well if you have long hair then note that It's always best to sleep with your hair tied into a bun.Going to bed with your hair lose can cause your loose hair to tangle cuasing major breakage when you try to comb it out the next day.

Also, hair contains oils and dirt that can get on your face, resulting in acne breakouts and other issues. Now, you wouldn't want that, would you?

When you tie your hair in a gentle bun or ponytail while sleeping, silk scrunchies are your best choice over satin scrunchies that are not as long lasting as real silk made scrunchies - plus your hair deserves only the best. Tieing you hair can also stimulate blood circulation to your scalp and encourage hair growth. Who doesn't love that!

Will you believe even the pillowcases you use can determine how your skin and hair get effected by nightime sleep? Tossing over and over on a pillow case with loose hair is the biggest problem with long hair knots, I personally get major knots on the bottom baby hairs area - at least that was until I started using silk pillow cased and tying my long hair up using these silk scrunchies.

Silk pillow cases contain several natural proteins and 18 essential amino acids that are beneficial to your skin. Unlike cotton pillowcases, silk pillowcases don't give you those annoying silk-lines or silk-creases on your face. Thanks for the thermo regulating power of the natural organic silk, you stay cool when you want to. And lastly, the silk pillows help prevent hair breakage.

Now if your a bit extra like I am than you might want to consider investing in thethe Blissy Silk pillow cases. They are made of grade 100% Mulberry Silk -22 Momme 6A high-grade fibers leaving you face and hair feeling like royalty.
